A D.O.P. item, these prized Italian tomatoes at the bottom of Mt. Vesuvius in the volcanic rich soil of the Sarnese-Nocerino region. San Marzanos are known for their perfect acidity and sweet complex flavour. These oblong plum tomatoes contains fewer seeds and less water, making them ideal for tomato sauce and true Neapolitan pizza. In order to gain the seal of authenticity, the tomatoes must be grown, packed and labeled in strict accordance with the San Marzano consortium and European Union Denomination of Origin Protection regulation (D.O.P.).
